Welcome to Forest Schooling UK
A guide for our new starters
Starting somewhere new can feel exciting, confusing and maybe even a little scary. Lots of the young people who join us tell us they were worried before their first day, but they soon discover that Forest Schooling UK is a little different.
You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to know anyone before you arrive. You just have to come as you are.
We'll get to know you, help you settle in and make sure you feel welcome from day one.
What is it like?
Our days look a little different from many schools. You'll spend time outdoors, learn in small groups, explore the woods, look after animals, cook over the fire, build things, learn new skills and, of course, continue with your education.

Every day you'll be supported by adults who genuinely care about helping you succeed.
Everyone is Different
You don't have to pretend to be someone you're not.

Wherever you're starting from, we'll meet you there.
What Should I Bring?
Bring clothes that you're happy to get muddy, sturdy shoes or boots and a waterproof coat. We spend lots of time outside, whatever the weather, because that's where some of the best learning happens! Don't worry if you forget something, we'll always do our best to help.
What Will My First Day Be Like?
When you arrive, one of our team will welcome you and show you around. You'll meet the adults you'll be working with and have plenty of time to explore. We know starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming, so there's no pressure to know everything straight away. We'll take things at your pace.
